Proper Tile & Grout Floor CleaningMost people think that cleaning tile floors is a simple process of a thorough sweep and mop ot the floors using plain water or adding a little white vinegar to the mop water. This is not the case. This may be an effective way of cleaning for no wax or vinyl flooring but that is definitely something to avoid in caring for hard ceremic or any flooring with grout between each tile. Vinegar is corrosive to grout and eventually will eat away at the grout causing it to crack. Please listen to qualified professionals for correct information in cleaning tile flooring such as this. A qualified member of the Fiber Dry team would be happy to assist in your carpet, upholstery and tile floor cleaning needs! After Fiber Dry professionals have cleaned and restored your floors, proper cleaning maintenance is key in keeping those floors looking clean and beautiful. These are a few basic rules. 1. Sweeping is fine but avoid wet or damp mopping afterwards for at least 24 hours after your service. 2. Thoroughly vacuuming your tile & grout is the only way to clean your floor 3. The only cleaning agent to ever mix in your mop bucket with water is a Neutral Floor Cleaner that specifically says the word neutral or has the number seven on the label. ( 7 = neutral on a PH scale ) 4. The proper mopping technique is to use a 24 ounce string mop. Wring less then half of the water out of the mop so that the floor is pretty wet. Mop one section (no more then a 5 x 10 foot area) at a time. Then wring mop tight and pick up the water left by the first mopping. Continue this procedure on the next section of floor until finished. Also, change your mop water about every 400 to 500 square feet. It is also a good idea to clean your floor with plain clear water every other cleaning. Tip:Good quality entry and exit floor mats will protect your ceramic tile from premature wear. These protective floor mats trap dirt, sand, grit and other substances such as oil and asphalt that would otherwise be tracked onto your floor. Protective mats are also suggested at heavy pivot locations such as in front of your sink or stove and refrigerator. |
